In the year 2022, the secondary market for debt securities issued by UEMOA states is experiencing more solid returns. In addition, it continues to be a key liquid management institution for players in the sector.

Transactions in debt securities issued by governments on the capital market of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) already reached 2,410.25 billion FCFA ($3.8 billion) as of November 18, 2022. But the probability is low that the value of 2021 (2 757.3 billion FCFA) will be reached. Nevertheless, everything can still be decided a few weeks before the end of the year. According to some calculations carried out, the value of the transactions carried out there was only 262.3 billion FCFA francs in 2017.

The expected gains are not negligible. The potential interest expected for volumes already traded in 2022 is of the order of 56 billion FCFA. They are certainly lower than those of 2021 (64 billion FCFA), but they are higher than all the interest sought on secondary market transactions in public securities from 2014 to 2020.
