Benin hosted the 23rd ordinary session of the General Assembly of the Regional Consular Chamber of UEMOA (CCR-UEMOA) from 6 to 8 December 2022.

The UEMOA Regional Consular Chamber, which brings together the Union's private sector organizations, is a powerful tool for sub-regional integration. Indeed, the choice made on Benin to host the 23rd Ordinary General Assembly of the CCR-UEMOA testifies “to the quality of the system for promoting the private sector in our country” according to the Minister of Industry and Trade. For her, “the private sector provides about 90% of employment in developing countries in general and more particularly in our states”.

Also, indicates the minister, “in addition to participating in discussions on the process of sub-regional economic integration, the CCR-UEMOA must be increasingly involved in actions and projects contributing to strengthening the capacities of economic actors so that they are able to cope with globalization.” The President of the Benin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI-Benin) for his part, said that the 23rd session is being held in a context characterized by the gradual resumption of economic activity following the Covid-19 pandemic and the effects of the Russian-Ukrainian war (rise in the price per barrel of oil and galloping inflation in all areas).
