L'Indice de l' industrialisation en Afrique (IIA) est une initiative de la BAD with the aim of strengthening data on Africa's industrial development. For this purpose, out of the top six countries qualified by the IIA, Tunisia is in 4th place while Morocco is in 2nd place. According to the IIA, African countries are progressing, albeit slowly, in their industrial development. According to her, a few countries have already acquired sophisticated production capacities. The ranking is composed of South Africa with a score of (0.8404), Morocco (0.8327), Egypt, (0.7877) and Tunisia (0.7714).
In reality, the IIA covers 52 of 54 African countries over the period 2010-2021. It reviews the industrial development of each country through three dimensions. These include the performance of the manufacturing sector, the direct determinants of manufacturing production (capital and labour), and the indirect determinants or the enabling environment, including macroeconomic stability and the quality of policies and institutions.
