The 2023-24 agricultural campaign will be based on exceptional financial support of 100 billion CFA francs divided between the various commitments. In the distribution of the budget, account has been taken of fertilizer subsidies, programmes to introduce new crops, peasant debt, and phytosanitary protection, among others. 15,747 billion FCFA will be granted to various species, including rice, cowpeas, maize, sorghum, fonio, watermelons, cassava and sesame, compared with 12,905,250,000 FCFA for the previous season. Also, 40% of this financial windfall, i.e. 40,065,797,500 FCFA, is devoted to subsidizing fertilizers (180,500 tons) with 50,000 tons of phosphate, compared with 49 702 585 800 FCFA last year (

When it comes to peanut seeds, 24.255 billion FCFA will be used compared to 14,412,790,000 FCFA last year. And for potatoes, a provisional budget of 9 billion FCFA will be made available and 350 million FCFA for urban agriculture, especially micro-gardening. For programmes to introduce new crops, 455 million FCFA have been stopped and 2.250 billion FCFA are planned to offset peasant debt compared to 1 billion FCFA last year
