The President of the African Development Bank (Bad ), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, said at the close of the Annual Meetings in the Kenyan capital that the bank's capital is expected to increase from 201 billion to 318 billion dollars

The President of the Bad announced an increase in the Bank's capital, which will go from 201 billion to 318 billion dollars. According to the latter, shareholders, including regional members (African countries), support this initiative. The objective is to allow the institution to raise more resources through the leverage effect, to face the challenges of the continent's development. The Bad estimates that the continent's financing gap to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is $477 billion, at a time when concessional resources are becoming scarce and African countries are devoting a lot of them to debt service.
