On Tuesday, June 4, the general management of the National Electricity Company (Snel SA) signed in Kinshasa a contract to rehabilitate Group 6 (G16) of the Inga 1 hydroelectric power plant, located in the province of Kongo Central in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Le contrat signé par la Snel SA was signed with the Chinese company “China Gezhouba group company limited” (CGGC) and financed by the Banque africaine de développement ( BAD). This contract aims to modernise Group 6 of the Inga 1 hydroelectric power plant. This machine, which has not been rehabilitated since 1972, will be removed from the network and will undergo modernization work in order to make it operational. The signing of this rehabilitation contract marks an important step in the cooperation between the National Electricity Company (Snel SA), the Chinese company CGGC and the African Development Bank (BAD). This collaboration will modernize and strengthen the production capacity of the Inga 1 hydroelectric power plant, thus contributing to the improvement of electricity supply in the Democratic Republic of Congo
