At a meeting with Musa Drammeh, Gambian Minister of Fisheries and Water Resources, in Cairo, the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Rehabilitation, Elsayed Elkosayer, pledged to provide support and cooperation to The Gambia in the aquaculture field.

The Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Rehabilitation indicated that “Egypt is on the verge of achieving self-sufficiency in fish, in addition to exporting the surplus of certain types of fish that Egypt is distinguished by its production” . Collaboration will take place in potential areas such as training and knowledge transfer, technology sharing, fish farming techniques, the establishment of hatcheries, and fish health management

The Executive Director of the Egyptian Agency for the Protection and Development of Lakes and Fishery Resources, Hussein Farhat, reiterated Egypt's commitment to supporting The Gambia and highlighted the agency's willingness to provide training, expertise, and support in various aspects of aquaculture, including sea cages.
