The director of information and public relations at the Office of the Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF), Segun Imohiosen, announced in a statement in Abuja that the Tripartite Commission on the New National Minimum Wage submitted its report on Monday to federal government.

The 37-member committee, led by Bukar Aji, which was inaugurated on 30 January by President Tinubu, was responsible for recommending a new national minimum wage for Nigerian workers in the public and private sectors. Indeed, after the last meeting held on Friday by the Tripartite Commission on the New Minimum Wage in Abuja, the Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF), who received the report of the Committee, indicated that “an official presentation of the report will be made to Mr. President for appropriate action when the leaders of the trade union movement, as well as representatives of the Government and the organized private sector” , will be returning from the current International Labour Organization (ILO) conference in Geneva, Switzerland.”

It should be noted that at the last meeting, the unions reduced their demand from 494,000 N to 250,000 N, while the federal government increased its supply from 60,000 N to 62,000 N.
