The African Development Bank's strategy for the Gambia over the period 2021-2025, for the Gambia over the period 2021-2025, has produced, halfway through its implementation, remarkable results in the energy, agriculture and transport sectors.

The ADB Group has contributed, in support of its Country Strategy Paper (CSP) 2021-2025, to considerably improve the population's access to affordable and reliable electricity, through its energy interventions. Indeed, at least 70% of Gambians should have access to electricity by the end of 2024 at the national level and 50% of them in rural areas. These remarkable results are due to the interconnection with Senegal, which provides 50 megawatts of electricity through the installations of the Gambia River Development Organization. The Bank's agricultural operations have boosted productivity, increased production and attracted private investment.

According to Joseph Ribeiro, Deputy Director General of the African Development Bank for West Africa, “the Bank's interventions are intended to help The Gambia lay the foundations for its socio-economic transformation and strengthen its resilience. Taking into account the country's long-term development priorities and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, the Bank has provided increased support for diversifying the economy and strengthening the country's resilience, by targeting factors of fragility.”
