At the 31st Annual General Meeting of the Bank held recently in Nassau, Bahamas, the African Import-Export Company (“Afreximbank” or the “Bank”) was delighted to announce changes to its Board of Directors.

A press release said that in Category “A”, Lydia Shehu Jafiya was elected to replace Aliyu Ahmed. Jafiya is the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Amadou Hott was elected to serve as a member of the Board of Directors upon the appointment of the African Development Bank. The latter is currently the Special Envoy of the President of the African Development Bank Group (Bad ) for the Alliance for Green Infrastructure in Africa.

In Category “B”, Noël Mekulu Mvondo Akame was elected to replace Jean-Marie Mani. He is currently the Director General of the National Social Security Fund (Cnps) of Cameroon. Selon le communiqué de presse, les Bank shareholders also approved an increase in authorized share capital from 5 to 25 billion US dollars. This increase reflects the Bank's rapid growth in response to the challenges facing the African continent. It also allows the Bank to support Africa's growth and development, in line with its mandate to promote continental trade and strengthen its importance on the global stage.
