The information minister and a central bank spokesperson said that Liberia suspended the governor of its central bank on Tuesday after an audit revealed irregular government lending and unauthorized spending.

After taking office in January, the President of Liberia, Joseph Boakai, commissioned an audit of three key government institutions, including the central bank.
