It was an opportunity to highlight the importance of économie blue, defined as the sustainable exploitation of marine resources for economic development, including fishing, aquaculture, coastal tourism, maritime transport, and offshore renewable energies

Placed under the theme “Economy blue and climate change: challenges and opportunities for African maritime and port women”, the RFPMP-AOC 2024 seminar is an essential platform to address the challenges of climate change in the maritime and port sector, while highlighting the crucial role of women in this field. The Minister of Transport, Amadou Koné highlighted the challenges posed by climate change, which threaten marine and coastal ecosystems, directly affecting communities and economic activities dependent on these ecosystems. Faced with these challenges, the blue economy is presented as a major opportunity for coastal states, offering significant potential for economic growth and social prosperity while ensuring environmental protection. This approach is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particular Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14, which aims to conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources.
