A workshop to present a study on the dynamization of the Beninese textile sector by private sector actors was held on July 31, 2024 in Cotonou. This workshop is organized by the country office of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB).

The workshop that took place in Benin made it possible to identify opportunities and to make structuring proposals to strengthen the dynamization of the cotton sector. Numerous opportunities to develop the textile value chain ranging from production units for accessories, to clothing, logistics, distribution or even solutions for the maintenance of textile items were revealed through the study. According to Caleb Menou, co-founder of the brand, Safari Textiles Africa, “the African Development Bank did well to create a favorable environment to encourage collaborations, in particular through visits to the Glo Djigbé industrial zone and capacity building sessions for small and medium-sized enterprises. These initiatives have made it possible to formalize and structure my company, Safari Textiles Africa, and to establish fruitful partnerships. The logical next step would now be the financing of companies that are making the effort to keep up, accompanied by serious monitoring to ensure good management of the funds.”
