On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, the Chairman of the Commission of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA ), Abdoulaye Diop was received in audience near the Prime Minister, Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem of Tambela. During the discussions, he presented the results of the review on the political reforms, programmes and projects of the Union in 2023.

The presentation by Abdoulaye Diop shows that Burkina Faso has achieved an overall performance of over 86% in the field of transposition and application of Community texts. According to the chairman of the commission, “it is a very satisfactory rate in the evaluation scale of UEMOA , especially the homogeneity in the performance noted during the review”.

On each of the components, including economic governance and convergence, the common market and sectoral reforms, Burkina Faso achieved an implementation rate of more than 80% for a threshold set at 70%. Diop also indicated that “the situation is satisfactory, resilient and dynamic because we expect a growth rate between 6 and 7%”.
