This Tuesday, oil prices are soaring again. The barrel of Brent, an international benchmark, was trading for 87.26 dollars after climbing to 87.55 dollars during the session. A level that had not been observed since October 2014.

Disruptions on the supply side, geopolitical tensions, as well as the supposed low danger of the Omicron variant, are pushing prices up. Brent is already up more than 10% since January 1, trading for $87.26. For its part, the American barrel of WTI gained 1.25% to 84.87 dollars. Approaching its peak of last October ($85.41) which was already a high since 2014.

Brent and WTI, which had ended 2021 with gains of around 40%, are already up more than 10% since January 1. In their wake, diesel, the most used fuel in France, crossed the threshold of 1.60 euros per liter last week.
