An awareness-raising workshop was organized on Monday, October 03, 2022 by the Regional Council for Public Savings and Financial Markets (CREPMF) to bring countries together members of ECOWAS to finalize the process of transposing the Uniform Stock Exchange Offences Act.

The opening of the workshop organized at the Noom Hotel in Abidjan Plateau took place under the responsibility of the Garde des Sceaux, Ivorian Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Sansan Kambilé, through the voice of NDubuisi Maho Florentine, her deputy chief of staff. She welcomed this Community text, which fills a legal void concerning the definition and penalties relating to stock exchange offences in the eight UMOA member states.

According to the collaborator of the Minister of Justice, “With the adoption of specific criminal legislation to punish criminal stock market conduct, the market The Union's financial institution further integrates international standards into its operation. By doing so, it will attract more capital, both domestic and international, to finance development projects in our countries.”

For his part, the Secretary General of CREPMF, Ripert Bossoukpe, stressed that this Uniform Law, adopted by the UMOA Council of Ministers during its session on 23 September 2021, precisely defines the offences and penalties applicable, and clearly determines the interactions between the national criminal courts and the Regional Council for Public Savings and Financial Markets.
