Senegal's fiscal management has been characterized by improved mobilization of budgetary revenues and significant expenditure execution during the first 8 months of this year 2022.

In Senegal, at the end of the first 8 months of the year, revenues collected were estimated at 2075.3 billion. Compared to the same period of 2021, an increase of 25.2% was recorded. Public spending, for its part, increased by 27.3% to reach 2781.1 billion (excluding expenditure financed from external resources). In addition, an increase of $416.1 billion (+25.2%) was recorded thanks to the good collection of resources attributable to budgetary revenues driven by an increase in tax revenues (+28.3%).

Thus, public expenditure excluding expenditure financed from external resources was executed in the amount of 2781.1 billion at the end of August 2022 compared with 2185.2 billion a year ago, an increase of 595.9 billion (+27.3%). This is explained by the sustained increase in domestically financed investment and operational expenditure, including transfers and subsidies. Similarly, increases of 17.5% and 20.9% were recorded over the period under review, respectively, in payroll and debt interest charges, estimated at 698.2 billion and 256.8 billion respectively.
