On Tuesday, October 11, 2022, the pan-African platform that provides subscription-based data and information to businesses and professionals around the world (Stears) announced that it had received 3.3 millions of dollars. The news came a month after the startup was selected in the Google for Startups Black Founders Fund 2022 cohort.

With the participation of Serena Ventures, Serena Williams' investment firm, and other investors, a roundtable discussion was conducted by MaC Venture Capital on the platform Pan-African Stears. Three students launched Stears in 2017 through their own experience. They noted that obtaining data and information on Africa's largest economy, their country of origin, Nigeria, is difficult. They thus created Stears thanks to their different skills in order to respond to the lack of information.

“We know that global professionals need our data and our knowledge because banks, research firms, development organizations, and investors are already using our first products. Our customers tell us that we are building a “systemically important” business to solve the data problem in Africa,” said Preston Ideh, Stears CEO.
