On October 19, 2022, African stock exchanges and capital market regulators signed the “Marrakech Pledge” during a meeting organized in the city of Ochre. It was within the framework of the 47th annual meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions held for the first time in Morocco. They are thus committed to the development of green finance on the continent.

In order to facilitate the emergence and development of green finance in Africa, African stock exchanges and capital market regulators commit to collective action and & agrave; build a continental partnership. This commitment is still nicknamed “Marrakech Pledge” and was strengthened during the ceremony on October 19 with 6 new signatures, including that of the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA). It now looks like 35 African countries. Its signatories undertake to act both at the level of their local markets and at the level of regional markets. This agreement, with the aim of fighting climate change by directing capital towards resilient investments and the green economy.
