Bitcoin hit its highest level in two years on Monday, surpassing $64,000, as a wave of cash brought it near record levels. It reached $64,285 at the start of the Asian day, its highest level since the end of 2021, and strengthened by 2% at the end of the session, to $63,850. The Bitcoin record is 68,999.99 dollars, set in November 2021. The largest cryptocurrency by market value has gained 50% this year and most of the rise has occurred over the past few weeks, when trading volume increased for bitcoin funds listed in the United States

Spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds were approved in the United States at the beginning of the year. Their launch paved the way for major new investors and rekindled the enthusiasm and momentum that recalls the rise to record levels in 2021

Its smaller rival, ether, benefitted from speculation that it might soon have exchange-traded funds that would attract capital flows. It is up 50% since the start of the year, but at $3,490 on Monday, it stayed just short of the two-year highs reached last week. This rise was accompanied by a record fall in stock market indexes, from the Japanese Nikkei to the S&P 500 to the technology-rich Nasdaq, and a drop in stock and currency volatility indicators
