Spot gold rose 0.5% to $2,442.38 per ounce at 0856 GMT. US gold futures gained 0.3% to $2,481.50. According to Mike Ingram, a market analyst at Kinesis Money, heightened geopolitical risk and volatility in other markets remain favorable to gold. According to Giovanni Staunovo, an analyst at UBS, “for gold to reach a new record, inflation must be below market expectations
.”Silver rose 1.5% to $27.86 per ounce, platinum 1.7% to $937.80, and palladium increased 3.1% to $933.21.
