From 15 to 18 October last year, the 2nd edition of the International Forum on the Circular Economy (ECOCIR 2024) was held in Abidjan. On the occasion, experts recommended facilitating access to waste recovery technologies and renewable energy solutions in order to allow the popularization of the circular economy among the population

“Sustainable cities and technologies: what is the contribution of the circular economy? ” is the theme around which the four days of reflection at ECOCIR 2024 were held. Public and private actors from territories, development institutions and Western institutes recommended on the occasion to facilitate access to technologies related to waste recovery with an emphasis on reducing the costs of acquiring this technology. They also called for the training of women and local communities in the management of renewable technologies and entrepreneurship, the integration of circular economy principles into climate policies and the promotion of low-carbon production models. The experts also recommended collaboration between governments, NGOs, international institutions, and the private sector, as well as the establishment of green circular infrastructures, with financial and fiscal incentives.
