The World Bank has indicated that loans to Nigeria will focus on internally displaced persons, education and improved nutrition. In a message posted on its website, the bank said the loans are designed to support Nigeria's social and economic recovery, especially in vulnerable sectors that require urgent intervention. The first project is called Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities. This project has a commitment of $300 million and is expected to be approved on April 8, 2025. This project aims to provide sustainable solutions to internally displaced persons and their host communities, by addressing their social and economic challenges. The second project named HOPE for Quality Basic Education for All will be approved on 20 March 2025. It is expected to receive $553.8 million in funding. Also, the World Bank plans to finance a third project called Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria 2.0. This project requires a commitment of 800 million dollars. The World Bank is expected to hold a decision meeting on this project by February 20, 2025.
The $1.65 billion funding reflects the World Bank's ongoing commitment to support ongoing reforms in Nigeria.
