The governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea (BCRG), Karamoko Kaba, is under pressure from a case that is shaking the bank's thick walls. Nearly 4 tons of gold, valued at around 400 million dollars, would be missing after a transfer to Dubai

.

The same accusations were brought against Lounceny Nabé, predecessor of Karamoko Kaba. The latter was accused of embezzlement when he took office. However, according to the Guinean press, the site guinee7.com, quoted by Financial Afrik “Nabé”, acted in a more formal framework, in particular by signing a contract with Affinor for the placement of three tons of gold over 12 months with a profitability & announced by 5.25%”. According to information on the site, “according to numerous sources, Governor Karamoko Kaba would have initiated gold transactions without involving the competent services of the Central Bank.” It should be noted that Guinea exports its raw gold to be refined in Dubai before repatriating it to Conakry. Transport is provided by MSS Security, a company run by businessman Yacoub Sidya.
