Over the next 5 years (by 2030), the World Bank and the African Development Bank (AfDB) will release at least $90 billion in capital from multilateral development banks, development agencies, financial institutions, private companies and philanthropic organizations through the plan called “Mission 300" launched in April 2024. Nigeria, Senegal, Zambia and Tanzania are among a dozen countries that have pledged to reform their power companies, promote the integration of renewable energies, and raise national electricity connection goals. According to Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank, providing access to electricity to 300 million people, or half of the people currently without electricity on the continent, is an essential element in stimulating Africa's development by creating new jobs
