.
Africa hosts more than 10% of the world's copper reserves, but still occupies a marginal part of the budgets dedicated to the exploration of the red metal. the continent ranks second to last among the regions, ahead of only the Pacific zone. Despite their status as major copper producers, the DRC and Zambia are struggling to attract exploration budgets. For its part, the DRC the world's second largest producer, received only $71.5 million in 2024, nearly ten times less than Chile ($637 million) and three times less than Peru ($233 million), the world's third-largest copper producer. For its part, Zambia attracted $65.5 million, a level similar to its Congolese neighbor, but well below the standards of other major mining regions
.À titre de comparaison, l' Afrique reste tout de même loin d' autres acteurs, comme les États-Unis, Canada and Australia.
Latin America remains the most popular region, totaling 1.4 billion dollars, including almost half ($637 million) for Chile, the world's largest copper producer.
