The Higher Authority for State Control and the Fight against Corruption (ASCE-LC) has uncovered a major corruption case within the National Urban Land Development Company (SONATUR). Several senior officials were involved, exposing practices of bribery, favouritism, money laundering and illegal interest-taking

An anonymous denunciation reached ASCE-LC on February 2, 2023. She accused SONATUR officials of fraudulent land allotments. Among the alleged facts, the illegal sale of a community plot with an area of 4385 m² intended for a project to build a clinic. To this end, on March 20, 2025, the Ouaga I Tribunal de Grande Instance, delivered its verdict in this case, the cumulative amount of fine sentences of which amounts to 811,000,000 CFA francs for the case alone. Several senior officials were found guilty of various offenses, including abuse of office, unlawful taking of interests and bribery. These include the Ex-Director General, sentenced to 16 months suspended prison sentence and a fine of 10 million FCFA. The ex-Director General, was sentenced to 16 months suspended prison and a fine of 272 million FCFA. The former Commercial Director, received a suspended sentence of 6 months and a fine of 180 million FCFA. The Director of Quality and Internal Audit, was sentenced to 12 months suspended and a fine of 10 million FCFA. The communication manager was given a 12-month suspended sentence and a fine of 52 million FCFA. And the IT Director sentenced to 8 months suspended sentence and a fine of 55 million FCFA
