Brent crude futures were up 8 cents, or 0.1%, to $74.11 per barrel at 09:49 GMT, marking the eighth consecutive day of gains, its longest streak since May 2022. West Texas Intermediate U.S. crude futures rose 5 cents, also 0.1%, to $69.97 per barrel. Both contracts have increased by around 2.5% since the start of the week. They are up by around 7% since their lowest monthly levels in early March.
Oil was also supported by signs of improving demand in the United States, the world's largest consumer of oil, as the country's crude inventories fell more than expected.
