MTN Nigeria reported a significant increase in average data usage per customer, from 7.8 GB in March 2023 to 11.3 GB in September 2024. Airtel Nigeria also saw its usage increase from 2.8GB in March 2021 to 8.1GB in September 2024

Telecommunication leaders said that rapid growth in Nigeria is due to user behavior, especially the shift from 3G and 4G to 5G networks, as well as the growing popularity of video streaming and other data-intensive services.
