Le Office of the Auditor General (BVG) has published reports of embezzlement and abuse in their former diplomatic functions. Two diplomats have been singled out, namely Mamary Camara, recently appointed Ambassador of Mali to Kigali, and Abdoulaye Tounkara, Permanent Representative

in Geneva.

Following this dismissal, the BVG recommended that the junta review the accounting of embassies and establish better control of resources. More than 500 million CFA francs in suspected embezzlement. The former ambassador to Abu Dhabi, Brigadier General Mamary Camara, is implicated for financial irregularities estimated at more than 202 million CFA francs over the period

2021 to 2024.

The report notes in particular that 22,939,080 CFA francs were transferred without justification to Mamary Camara's personal account, that 34.5 million were withdrawn without explanation from the embassy bank account, and that fictional tuition expenses amount to nearly 18 million CFA francs. The inspection mission also highlights the chaotic functioning of accounting. According to the BVG, “the accounting officer secretary does not keep records and documents in accordance with regulations, and does not respect the cash fund ceiling”.
