The South African fintech company Peach Payments announced on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 that it had reached an agreement to acquire the digital payment platform PayDunya based in Senegal.

The acquisition of PayDunya gives Peach Payments access to the West African Economic and Monetary Union ( UEMOA ), composed of eight countries, and to the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC). According to leaders, this initiative could open access to more than 450 million people across the continent.

According to PayDunya co-founder and CEO, Aziz Yérima, “this acquisition marks an important step for PayDunya as it allows us to realize our dreams of expansion to achieve and improve the value we bring to businesses across French-speaking and English-speaking Africa.” According to the The Dakar-based company started with initial funding of 20,000 euros and became a profitable business employing more than 40 people
