The Bloomfield Investment Corporation agency awarded Equatorial Guinea an “Investment Grade” rating at the end of its financial rating process in local currency, reflecting relative stability despite a complex economic context.

At the end of its evaluation, the Bloomfield Rating Committee awarded Equatorial Guinea the following ratings:

Long-term note: BBB, with a stable outlook

Short-term grade: A2, also with a stable outlook

These ratings place the country in the Investment Grade category, reflecting a moderate capacity to meet its financial commitments, but exposed to structural economic vulnerabilities.

On the political front, the Mo Ibrahim Foundation's “Elections and Democracy” rating fell to 8.3% in 2023, from 17.5% in 2019, indicating a lack of transparency in electoral processes. Despite the presence of 16 parties, power has remained dominated by a single party since 1979. Moreover, governance remains weak, with a 172nd place out of 180 in the Transparency International ranking

In 2023, budgetary resources reached 1,635 billion CFA francs, up 32% compared to 2019, mainly from oil (82%). Expenditure increased by 30%, directed towards public infrastructure (28%) and operating costs (30%)
