Afin d' établir une opération de culture et de transformation de la canne à sucre, le Conseil national de développement du sucre du Nigeria (NSDC) has signed a billion dollar agreement with the Chinese public conglomerate China National Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH

The project aims to significantly increase domestic sugar production and reduce dependence on imports. The agreement includes the construction of a sugar processing plant and the development of a sugar cane plantation with an initial capacity of 100,000 tons per year. Its long-term goal is to increase production to one million tons per year, which would more than double Nigeria's current output. The project will follow the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) model, with SINOMACH providing full financing for the development. Under the terms of the MoU, NSDC will contribute to the acquisition of land, and the obtaining of regulatory and other required approvals. The project is expected to create several thousand jobs, improve rural infrastructure, and preserve currencies by reducing the country's dependence on sugar imports.
