By the decree making explicit reference to several texts including the Transitional Constitution, renovated to strengthen control institutions and the amended Transitional Charter (law No. 2022‑001), General Assimi Goita appointed Abdoul Aziz Aguissa as Auditor General, key position responsible for ensuring the proper use of public resources.

The new Auditor General, Aguissa succeeds a previous incumbent whose 2018 appointment decree has just been cancelled, as well as the interim appointment provided by another manager since the beginning of the year. The decree by which Aguissa was appointed specifies the missions of the executive and supervisory bodies and Law No. 2021-069, establishing the office of Auditor General and defining its field of intervention. Its designation is based on a solid foundation

.

In addition, the old executive orders governing recruitment (2003), remuneration (2004), and job benefits (2009) have been taken into account to ensure the legality and consistency of this appointment. Abdoul Aziz Aguissa, civil administrator and member of the Prefectural Corps, brings recognized expertise in local governance and public

management.

His career has led him to manage several audit and consulting missions with local authorities, where he has acquired a solid reputation for his rigor and his sense of ethics. He will be responsible for examining the accounts of the State, local authorities and public institutions, carrying out financial, accounting and performance audits, formulating recommendations to correct dysfunctions and prevent fraud and transmitting reports to the President of the Transition, to the Parliament and to the Court of Auditors, in his new functions. The appointment of a competent Auditor General reflects the dynamic of institutional reforms initiated by the Transition.

By entrusting this mission to Aguissa, the authorities intend to restore citizens' trust in institutions, optimize the use of resources allocated to priority sectors (security, health, education) and strengthen preventive mechanisms against embezzlement.
