On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the Board of Directors of the African Development Bank Group approved a loan of 136 million euros (89,210,152,000 FCFA) to Cameroon. This loan will promote the implementation of the Building Capabilities and Skills for Employability and Entrepreneurship in the Far North Region (CAP2E) project

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved a new loan in Cameroon to strengthen employability and entrepreneurship in the Far North region. This financing is composed of 130.2 million euros from the Bank's window and 5.8 million euros from its concession window, the African Development Fund, should contribute to the socio-economic transformation of one of the most vulnerable regions

It aims to transform a region in difficulty, into a space of opportunities, innovation and inclusive resilience. This program, designed in a spirit of partnership, puts people at the center, especially young people, women and local communities to build a better and more resilient future.”

The project, lasting five years (2025-2029), takes an integrated and inclusive approach and will be implemented in all six departments in the region. It is part of a results-based financing framework, a first for the Bank in Cameroon. This mechanism makes it possible to strengthen governance, improve the effectiveness of public programs, and align incentives with expected results.
