On Monday, May 26, 2025, the Australian mining company Canyon Resources, which is developing the Minim Martap bauxite deposit project in Cameroon, through its subsidiary Camalco, announced that it had obtained the opening of a $140 million credit line.

80.6 billion FCFA at the current rate of the dollar is obtained from AFG Bank, the financial conglomerate of the Ivorian billionaire Kone Dossongui. According to the Australian company, the draws on this credit line will be made at the Cameroonian subsidiary of AFG Bank from the 3rd quarter of 2025. According to Mark Hohnen, the executive chairman of Canyon Resources, “AFG Bank Cameroon is a great partner for Canyon, and thanks to the $140 million credit facility in place, as well as the A$24.5 million in funds to be received from (...)
