Anti-corruption laws have been passed by the Mauritanian parliament. At the heart of these laws is the creation of a national authority.

The creation of the national authority aims to criminalize corruption in all its forms and facilitate international cooperation for the recovery of ill-gotten assets. According to reports, this new revised law is once again considered to be a political smoke for the simple reason that its application remains problematic.
