On the sidelines of the general meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB), on Wednesday, the institution signed three financing agreements worth a total of 1.9 million dollars with Mauritania.

The three agreements signed between the Minister of Economy and Finance, Sid'Ahmed ould Bouh and the African Development Bank's Regional Director for North Africa, Mohamed El Azizi, “aim to strengthen the strategic partnership and support sustainable development by Mauritania”. Among the agreements signed is additional funding for the “Project to Support Gender-Sensitive Agricultural Value Chains and Women's Entrepreneurship (PCVASGEF)”. In the amount of 6.87 million units of account, this financing takes the form of a grant granted by the Bank's Climate Action Window. The second loan agreement in the amount of 13.26 million units of account was also concluded for the strengthening of resilience in rural areas through the management and development of water resources (3R-Water Project), financed by the Transition Support Facility. The objective of this project is to improve access to water for domestic and productive purposes, as well as to strengthen the sustainability of aquatic ecosystems.
The last one, in the form of a grant of 1.9 million US dollars granted by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), was signed. This envelope aims to increase investments and technology transfer to facilitate capacity building and technical assistance for the implementation of the Stockholm and Minamata Conventions in African least developed countries.
The total amounts to 20.13 million units of account. In addition, there are 1.9 million US dollars. These agreements reflect the ongoing commitment of the African Development Bank to national priorities in the areas of sustainable agriculture, water security, environmental protection and institutional strengthening.
