Economic growth on the African continent is expected to increase from 3.3% in 2024 to 3.9% in 2025, reaching 4% in 2026, despite growing geopolitical uncertainties and global trade tensions. This is revealed in the report “African Economic Outlook 2025” (PEA 2025), presented on Tuesday by the Group of the Banque africaine de développement (ADB). According to this document, Africa demonstrates a strong capacity for resilience in the face of multiple shocks, and identifies concrete ways to unleash an immense potential for transformation. The outlook is promising for 21 African countries, which are expected to exceed 5% growth in 2025. Among them, Ethiopia, Niger, Rwanda and Senegal could cross the 7% threshold, which is considered critical for reducing poverty and promoting inclusive growth, despite persistent challenges.
The report highlights four forms of capital to be exploited. These are natural capital, human capital, financial capital, and commercial capital.
