The Ivorian government officially inaugurated the Côte d'Ivoire Agricultural Commodities Exchange (BMPA) on May 28, 2025 during a ceremony at the Port-Bouët Exhibition Center.

The BMPA aims to ensure more transparent pricing and to stimulate trade in agricultural products. It is the first of its kind in West Africa. Located in Côte d'Ivoire, the creation of the agricultural commodity exchange was supported by the Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM). According to the managing director of the BRVM, Felix Edoh Kossi Amenounve, the BMPA will offer an organized, transparent and open market at the international level for three of the country's main crops such as cashew nuts, cola nuts and maize

.

It will replace direct exchanges between buyers and sellers and ensure more transparent pricing. The stakeholders of the BMPA are producers of agricultural raw materials, agricultural cooperatives and professional organizations, as well as agro-industrial companies

.

The creation of the stock exchange is part of the government's long-term strategy, which aims to establish a reliable market for agricultural speculation; ensure transparency in pricing; ensure transparency in pricing; stimulate agricultural production through market incentives; facilitate the distribution of agricultural products; armed improve producers' incomes and their access to finance; and promote fair trade for sustainable and inclusive agriculture. In reality, farmers can deliver their inventory to approved warehouses located near agricultural areas. These producers then receive a receipt which is used as a trading document on the stock exchange. According to Raoul-Alex Zouzou, who runs ACBH, one of the three authorized brokerage companies, “with this receipt, producers will come to meet the brokers to be able to sell their production online. And from the stock exchange platform, the broker, who is also in contact with manufacturers, processors and exporters, will offer these products to buyers

.”

The first trading day of the BMPA is this May 30.
