The CFA Institute unveiled a new report on May 30 in Abidjan, on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank. He called for mobilizing private capital, especially private equity and private debt, to stimulate the development of capital markets in sub-Saharan Africa

The new CFA Institute report covers 11 African economies. He pays particular attention to Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal, citing their strategic role in the financial future of UEMOA. He cautions that while growth is ongoing, these markets must now move towards more inclusive and long-term financing ecosystems supported by structural reforms

The aim is to transform West Africa into a center of financial innovation, where scalable models can be tested and replicated across the continent. If implemented, these reforms could make West Africa an autonomous and resilient engine for the deployment of private capital, by linking domestic savings to productive investment and by strengthening the financial foundations of Africa's long-term development. The study highlights the need for a clear and stable regulatory framework, the absence of which continues to discourage private investors.
