Madagascar confirmed its commitment to a strategic partnership with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) during the 60th Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank (AfDB) held in Abidjan last week.

The collaboration between Africa and Asia paves the way for concrete projects to develop Malagasy infrastructures. According to Rindra Hasimbelo Rabarinirinarison, Minister of Economy and Finance, working with AIIB offers Madagascar a unique opportunity to modernise roads and support the country's economic development. In particular, the AIIB promised its support for the rehabilitation of National Road No. 13, a crucial project for the country. In addition to this partnership with the AIIB, Madagascar obtained non-repayable funding from the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Financing (MCDF). This fund will serve to strengthen the transparency and management of public procurement, marking a significant step forward towards better governance.
