Le end of May, the Ghanaian Ministry of Energy and Green Transition officially launched the SREP (Scaling-Up Renewable Energy Program) program. This program is intended to extend access to electricity to underserved areas

.

The Scaling-Up Renewable Energy Program includes the construction of 35 mini-grids, the installation of 1450 solar home units and the deployment of 12,000 rooftop photovoltaic systems across the country. This project aims to supply electricity to over 70,000 people, mainly in the Bono East, Oti and Savannah regions. It will also contribute to increasing the share of renewable energy (excluding hydroelectricity) to 13.5% of the national energy mix. It is financially supported by the Swiss government via SECO, the African Development Bank (BAD), the Climate Investment Fund (CIF) and the Ghanaian government

.

L'initiative devrait générer environ 111 GWh d' électricité propre par an et permettre d' éviter l' émission de 0,7185 million de tonnes de CO equivalent. During the implementation phase, nearly 2,000 jobs will be created, 30% of which will be targeted at women and young people.
