Two partnership agreements were signed on Thursday 10 July 2025 in Diamniadio by the Department of Microfinance and Financial Inclusion (DIMF) and the German Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation (DSIK) and the German Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation (DSIK).

Partnership agreements aim to strengthen the role of financial cooperatives in providing populations with access to appropriate financial services. The signing was made in the presence of the Senegalese Minister of Microfinance and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Alioune Dione, and Thomas Kuppers, Head of Mission of the German Embassy in Dakar. According to Alioune Dione, “the objective of these agreements is to strengthen the role of financial cooperation in providing populations with access to appropriate financial services within the framework of the DSIK regional project”. The regional project of this German foundation is entitled “sustainable transformation of the financial sector through the strengthening of the credit cooperative sector and the promotion of equal representation of women and young people in West Africa”.

According to the minister, through these agreements, the DSIK will support Senegal in several initiatives, in particular the compliance of MFIs with the new law regulating microfinance and the popularization of cooperative principles within MFIs (Microfinance Institutions).
