Meeting on 12 August 2025, the Council of Ministers adopted the ordinance and the decree establishing and statutes of the Central Purchasing Authority of Gabon (CEAG). A mixed economy company owned 37% by the State and 63% by national private operators, CEAG aims to rationalize supply circuits, reduce costs and strengthen the country's food and economic sovereignty

.

The main mission of the Gabon Purchasing Center will be to acquire, store, transport and distribute goods that are considered essential and strategic. The products concerned are the foodstuffs essential to ensure the country's food security and the construction materials necessary to strengthen the infrastructure.

Placed under the technical supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Central Purchasing Authority of Gabon (CEAG) will take the form of a public limited company, a legal structure that will allow it to operate with a certain independence and increased efficiency.

Also, it will be 37% owned by the State, thus guaranteeing a strong public presence in management, and 63% by national operators in the distribution sector, who will contribute their expertise and networks to optimize logistics. This public-private configuration, designed with care and strategy, aims to pool purchasing volumes in order to benefit from significant cost reductions

.

With the centralization of operations, CEAG will also be able to reduce logistics costs and negotiate directly with the countries of supply, thus ensuring better purchasing conditions and price stability.
