At the end of the activities, a total of 21 special prizes worth 111 million CFA francs are planned to be awarded to actors in the world of cinema.
“ African cinemas and the culture of peace” is the theme on which the new edition of FESPACO is based, which is taking place with 170 films in official competition. At this edition, 15 donor partners will award 21 special prizes to the winners of this biennial of African cinema. These prizes are subdivided into four categories and have a total value of 111 million CFA francs.
According to the president of the organizing committee of this 28th edition, Fidèle Tamini “the special prizes are very popular and expected by the filmmakers in competition. Indeed, being part of the special awards list helps propel the careers of filmmakers because these awards contribute greatly to the promotion of their film. ” The Ababacar Samb Makharam Prize from the city of Ouagadougou, worth 3 million CFA francs, will reward the winner who has dealt with issues of economic and socio-cultural development, major urban scourges, solidarity between peoples or the search for friendship.
LONAB and the Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT) will also award prizes while ECOWAS and UEMOA will offer special prizes.
