The Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP), an ambitious ECOWAS project was launched in Burkina on Tuesday. Over a five-year period, the initiative will promote sustainable access to energy for Burkinabe populations

ECOWAS has set up its ROGEAP project, with a view to promoting people's access to renewable energies. The ROGEAP project, financed by the World Bank and the Clean Technology Fund of the Dutch Directorate-General for International Cooperation, is implemented by the ECOWAS Commission, in partnership with the West African Development Bank (

The project will cover the 15 ECOWAS member countries with four other countries namely Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Mauritania and Chad.
