The coffee and cocoa producer map is supposed to help ensure the traceability and sustainability of the coffee and cocoa sector. Nearly a million agricultural producers have received it as part of large-scale distribution and operationalization in Côte d'Ivoire.

The Coffee and Cocoa Council announced that the launch of the large-scale distribution of the Coffee-Cocoa Producer Card took place on February 2 in Agboville and will end in the last quarter of 2023. Indeed, the distribution of the cards took place after the launch of a census of coffee-cocoa producers and their orchards in all coffee-cocoa production areas.

The operation identified nearly one million coffee-cocoa producers and registered an area of 3.2 million hectares of coffee and cocoa plantations at a total cost of 6.5 billion CFA francs (11.5 million USD). According to the managing director of the Café-Cacao Council, Yves Brahima Koné, “the map will be the foundation on which the interprofessional coffee and cocoa sector will be built.” For him, the producer map represents the first step in the implementation of the unified traceability system for coffee and cocoa in Côte d'Ivoire, since it makes it possible, in particular, to identify the product and to trace its journey from the edge of the field to its final destination.
