At the opening of the “Assises de l'Entreprise 2023", a conference held from Thursday, February 16, 2023, the Senegalese authorities announced their intention to make Dakar a reference regional financial center in perspective of the exploitation of oil and gas resources.

The two-day ceremony focused on the theme “the contribution of insurance to the national economy”. During this meeting, the Senegalese government announced its ambition to make Dakar a potential financial center of reference. Thus, the Minister of Finance and Budget, Mamadou Moustapha Ba announced that he is counting on factual factors. These factors include Senegal's second financial position within the West African Monetary Union (UMOA), behind Côte d'Ivoire, with 18,656 billion in assets representing 33.7% of cumulative assets in the zone. There is also banking profitability with 383.8 billion net results over the last three years, making the country the 2nd most profitable place in space, after that of Côte d'Ivoire, which shows a cumulative profit of 846.8 billion.
