On Thursday, March 9, 2023, the ordinary meeting of the Association of African Central Banks (ABCA) took place in Dakar, at the headquarters of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO). It took place in the presence of the governors of the African issuing institutions.

The opening of the meeting of the Association of African Central Banks (ABCA) was chaired by Buah Saidy, the Governor of the Central Bank of The Gambia and the current president of the association. According to the governor, “the global economy grew by 3.2% in 2022, compared with 6.0% in 2021, which represents the weakest growth since 2001, the level of inflation that continues to remain high. To this, he added the disruption of the supply chain, a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

noted that the ABCA consists of 41 members and aims, among other things, to develop cooperation between African Central Banks in the monetary, banking and financial fields. This meeting of the ABCA board was preceded by a preparatory meeting of the association's Technical Committee, held from 6 to 8 March 2023.
